About SpartanX

SpartanX is an offensive security company building the next generation of agentic AI capabilities for red teaming, penetration testing, and continuous adversarial validation. We help security leaders see their environment the way a real attacker would — with AI-driven workflows and observability that scale beyond what any human team could deliver alone. As an early-stage company moving fast, we are looking for builders who want to shape the company, the product, and their own team.

The Opportunity

The Director of Solutions Engineering is a foundational hire who will partner directly with the Executive Team to scale SpartanX. You will be the technical face of the company in front of customers and prospects — leading discovery, demos, proof-of-value engagements, and solution scoping for offensive security buyers and CISOs. You will also be the customer's voice inside the building: working hand-in-hand with Product and Engineering on roadmap, prioritization, and rapid feedback loops. This is a player-coach role with an explicit mandate to build and lead your own team as we grow.

What You'll Do

  • Executive partnership: Partner with the President & COO, CEO, and Head of Sales on customer presentations, executive briefings, and strategic deals — owning the technical narrative end-to-end.
  • Demos & presentations: Deliver compelling product demos and technical deep-dives that translate offensive security and agentic AI capabilities into clear customer outcomes.
  • Trusted advisor: Serve as a technical resource and trusted advisor across the customer lifecycle — from first call through proof-of-value, deployment, and expansion.
  • Solution scoping: Lead the scoping of customer solutions, including environment assessment, success criteria, and rules of engagement for offensive engagements.
  • Product & roadmap influence: Translate field signal into prioritized roadmap input. Work closely with Product and Engineering to shape features, identify gaps, and shorten the loop between customer need and shipped capability.
  • Build the team: Hire, mentor, and grow the Solutions Engineering function. Define the team's playbooks, demo environments, technical enablement, and success metrics.
  • Internal training: Own internal technical onboarding for new GTM hires and cross-functional partners — making sure every customer-facing employee can speak credibly about offensive security and our platform.
  • Industry presence: Represent SpartanX at major cybersecurity events (Black Hat, DEF CON, RSA, regional conferences) through speaking, demos, customer dinners, and partner meetings.
  • Operational rigor: Establish repeatable processes for POVs, technical evaluations, and competitive responses that scale beyond founder-led selling.

What You'll Bring

  • Offensive security expertise (required): Hands-on offensive security background — red teaming, penetration testing, adversary emulation, or comparable practitioner experience. You have run engagements, not just sold them.
  • Practitioner depth: Deep familiarity with modern offensive tradecraft, exploit development concepts, cloud and identity attack paths, and how mature defenders detect and respond.
  • Agentic AI fluency: Working knowledge of agentic AI systems, LLM-driven workflows, tool use, evaluation, and observability — and a clear point of view on how AI changes the offensive security workflow.
  • Customer-facing track record: Demonstrated success in a Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Account, or Field CTO role at a cybersecurity vendor, ideally in an early-stage or hyper-growth environment.
  • Executive presence: Experience presenting to and influencing CISOs, security architects, and offensive security leads. You can hold the room with both a SOC analyst and a board member.
  • Leadership: Track record of building or scaling a team — hiring, ramping, and developing technical talent.
  • Communication: Clear, structured communication — written, verbal, and visual.
  • Location & travel: Based in New York or New England, willing and energized by consistent travel to customers, partners, and industry events.

Nice to Have

  • • Industry certifications such as OSCP, OSEP, OSCE, CRTO, GXPN, or equivalent demonstrated body of work.
  • • Prior speaking experience at Black Hat, DEF CON, RSA, or similar venues.
  • • Experience scoping and delivering against MSAs, SOWs, and rules-of-engagement documents for offensive engagements.
  • • Familiarity with detection engineering and purple team operations from the offensive side of the table.
  • • Software-adjacent background — comfortable reading code, scripting in Python, and reasoning about APIs and data pipelines.

Why SpartanX

  • Founding-team-level impact: You will help define the Solutions Engineering function and the technical voice of the company.
  • Work at the frontier: We are reimagining offensive security through agentic AI — at the intersection of two of the most consequential trends in technology.
  • Executive access: Direct partnership with the President & COO and the broader executive team on strategy, deals, and roadmap.
  • Compensation: Generous cash compensation paired with meaningful early-stage equity. Comprehensive health benefits and the support you need to do the best work of your career.
