Before You Apply: Eligibility Criteria

Please only apply if ALL of the following apply to you:

  • English Fluency: You have an excellent command of written English. You are capable of reviewing application interfaces to catch typos, grammatical errors, and awkward phrasing before they reach the user.
  • Senior-Level Experience: You have a proven track record as a senior quality assurance professional, taking full ownership of end-to-end testing strategies in fast-paced product teams.
  • Automated E2E Engineering: You are highly capable of writing and maintaining test code. You can autonomously build robust E2E test suites (using tools like Playwright or Cypress) and integrate them seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proactive Quality Advocacy: You do not just run tests; you analyze requirements, anticipate edge cases, and push back on releases that fail to meet rigorous acceptance criteria.

If any of these criteria don't describe you, we encourage you to apply when they do. We're looking for a very specific profile, and this role is not a good fit otherwise.

Introduction

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior QA Engineer to own the quality of our AI-powered web application from end to end. You will be at the heart of our engineering pipeline, serving as the critical last line of defense before features reach our users. This role requires a rigorous analytical mindset, deep expertise in both manual and automated testing, and the technical capability to write reliable code for E2E test suites. If you thrive on breaking things in methodical ways, building automated safety nets, and ensuring a flawless user experience in a fast-moving environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

The Mission

Your mission is to be the ultimate guardian of product quality at SpartanX AI. As our team ships fast to build the world's most advanced AI-driven offensive security platform, you will ensure that speed does not compromise stability. You will combine hands-on manual validation with comprehensive automated coverage, maintaining a living test architecture that runs continuously. You will bridge the gap between development and the user, ensuring that every release meets our highest standards for functionality, reliability, and polish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manual Validation & Exploratory Testing: Validate new and existing features against business acceptance criteria before each release. Identify hidden edge cases, document meticulous test cases, and file clear, reproducible bug reports.
  • Automated E2E Architecture: Build, scale, and maintain a robust automated E2E test suite (using Playwright) against our Next.js frontend. Ensure critical user flows are covered and run reliably.
  • Pipeline & Regression Ownership: Own the continuous integration testing pipeline. Keep the automated suite green as the codebase evolves, triage failures immediately, distinguish actual product bugs from flaky tests, and escalate accordingly.
  • Proactive Quality Advocacy: Stay deeply integrated with the development pipeline. Review upcoming features and PRs, flag testability gaps early, and act as the gatekeeper by pushing back on releases that don't meet acceptance criteria.
  • Test Documentation & Strategy: Create and maintain living test plans, coverage matrices, and known-issues logs that serve as a single source of truth for the broader engineering team.
  • UI & Copy Polish: Leverage your English fluency to review application interfaces, catching typos, formatting errors, and unclear copy to ensure a premium user experience.

Core Technical Requirements (Must-Have)

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance, with a proven track record of operating at a senior level and owning the QA process for a web-based product.
  • Manual Functional Testing: Deep expertise in writing test cases from acceptance criteria, executing exploratory testing, and applying rigorous edge-case thinking.
  • E2E Automation Tooling: Strong experience writing automated E2E tests with modern frameworks like Playwright or Cypress/Selenium (with a willingness to ramp up quickly on Playwright).
  • Scripting and Coding Proficiency: Practical ability to read and write test code. You must be proficient in TypeScript/JavaScript for the frontend test suite, and have basic Python skills to navigate backend logic and APIs.
  • CI/CD Integration: Experience configuring and maintaining automated tests within CI pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Cloud Build) to run reliably on pull requests and deployments.
  • SDLC Mastery: Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle. You know exactly how features move from a ticket to deployment and how to embed QA practices seamlessly at every stage.
  • Autonomy and Ownership: The ability to prioritize, scope, and deliver work autonomously. You are comfortable working in fast-moving environments with frequent releases and take radical ownership of product quality.

Desirable Skills & Experience (Nice-to-Have)

  • • Security Familiarity: A basic understanding of offensive security concepts, or prior experience testing cybersecurity platforms and tools.
  • • AI & Non-Deterministic Testing: Experience testing AI-generated content, LLM outputs, or non-deterministic features where traditional binary pass/fail assertions may not apply.
  • • Software Development Background: Prior professional experience in a software engineering role (frontend, backend, or full-stack).
  • • Tech Stack Familiarity: Experience working specifically with Next.js, React, or Python web backends.
  • • API Tooling: Advanced knowledge of API testing tools and methodologies (Postman, curl, httpx).

What We Offer

  • • The opportunity to work at the forefront of offensive AI in 2026.
  • • An environment where your knowledge becomes a "capability" for AI agents operating at scale.
  • • The chance to solve difficult and real-world problems related to research, attack chains, reproducibility, evaluation, and tradecraft.
  • • A high-ownership team with a culture of radical transparency and zero drama.
  • • Flexibility and a focus on results, not hours.

SpartanX is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
